What to take away

  • Most big US airlines (American, Delta, Southwest, Alaska) still include a carry-on on their cheapest fare. United Basic Economy usually doesn't on domestic routes.
  • Frontier, Allegiant, Ryanair, easyJet and Wizz Air charge for anything bigger than a personal item.
  • Lufthansa Economy Basic within Europe doesn't include a carry-on either.
